A discussion on LinkedIn about to translate LD in Italian (Richiediamo Linkedin in italiano)

Oggi ho trovato questa discussione su LinkedIn-

Richiediamo Linkedin in italiano?

We thank our friends Neurona and Viadeo for their support!

For those who still may have doubts, I repeat that Milan-IN is not a competitor of any Social Business Network on-line, like from the most important in Italy it's Viadeo o Neurona.it, integrated very well in the local market.

Our core is Social Networking 2.0, - being the "second life" for the traditional today's Social Networks with their intensive and important on-line life.  And we're off-line with our Social and Business Events!

Well, so what should we thank Neurona and Viadeo for?
They, of course through their local project coordinators for Italy, helped us a lot in promoting of the Milan-IN's "2-nd Year Anniversary" event, that thing expected for the year,- our Mega-Gala-Party, Milan-IN Happy Birthday.

And I want to personally thank twice Silvia Aznar, my friend and strategist for Neurona- Italy project, for the constant support she is giving to me (as to resp. IT/On-Line Marketing of Milan-IN). This time with Neurona.it we could do some really great things: a direct mail (NetMail feature as it's called in Neurona) that I sent to all Members of "Business Opportunity" group on Neurona (with permission of Silvia, accepted my as Moderator of that Group), and the following lots of personal forwarding of this message by the people- members of that Community, we've got for Milan-IN 100+ new Membership Requests in about 10 days only! It's quite a big number, taking into account that 100 is a 10% of 1000, the total amount of Milan-IN Club Members!

Is this the wished by us so much, the so-called and natural strict collaboration between on-line and off-line worlds? GREAT! Business Club 2.0 really works if so!

And of course I wish, as usual, to thank my friend and colleague Andrea Falzin & Viadeo Italia...

So we're still missing Xing and, of course, LinkedIn Italia itself? ;)

I remind you that we have among Milan-INers today Viadeo Leader, Neurona.it Leader and Dada.net Marketing Leader. And it's of course true that we're a Club of LinkedIn Italia Users ourselves.

It seems to be essential for Milan-IN, as the next step in its development and national expansion, to have as one of the main goals "for tomorrow" the more strict collaboration with our on-line partners.

And we wish this to us for the 2007/2008!

"Threats when using online social networks",- a must-read article for everyone!

Grifters find rich pickings on social networking sites

Social networking sites are creating a means for hackers and conmen to worm their way into the confidence of users.

Sites such as LinkedIn can be used to create a veneer of trust that leaves internet users and business at a greater risk of attack, according to a study by Danish security firm CSIS. Dennis Rand, a security researcher at CSIS, created a fictitious entry on the LinkedIn network before inviting random and unknown users of LinkedIn to join his private network. By posing as an ex-employee of "targeted" firms he was able to prompt real workers from these firms into establishing connections.

Within a few weeks Rand created a network of 1340 trusted connections. In a research paper, Threats when using online social networks (PDF), Rand explains how information gleaned through this network might be used to harvest email addresses for spamming or worse. The "blind trust" built into social networks might be abused to send messages containing links to malicious code that are more likely to be accepted because they come from a "trusted" source, for example.

Other risks include the possibility that sales staff might take sensitive sales prospect contact lists with them when they change jobs. Just putting these contacts online creates a data leak risk.

Rand's study focused on LinkedIn, a business-focused network with around 10m registered users, but the risks highlighted apply to social networking sites as a whole. He argues firms need to update their security policies to contain rules for using social networking sites.
